John Park is asked to compare Korean and Foreign Women on ‘Full House’

June 19, at 5: Im reposting this from the PUA thread, because I feel as though it is pertinent here as well: On the flip side, the whole reason why we are in this whole mess is, like mentioned above, it is a zero-sum game, that is fought via power and social status. The whole reason we are dealing with this is because America holds all the power. The truth is that Asian fetish is simply one more manifestation of a product that Western men and thus Western society want and acquire through their inordinate amount of power and standing in a geopolitical scale. If that power were to shift, then things would be different. Look at China for example. It is through sheer power and financial standing that China can make these demands. Asian Americans have been criticising media for decades and I see very little difference between characters in the s Joy Luck Club and our current society today. It is the ultimate root.

In no particular order honestly, who could choose one?!? Until the last 20 years most people living in Korea had little direct contact with foreigners. South Korea was not a major tourist destination for westerners, Koreans couldn’t afford to travel for pleasure much yet, and Korea’s economy had not progressed to having numerous Fortune multinational companies attracting ex-pat workers and Koreans going overseas to work for Korean companies in foreign countries. It’s like how you will occasionally hear someone on a variety show say something a bit peculiar about a non-Korean ethnicity or non-Asian.

I don’t think it is racism. It is just a lack of familiarity. If you had never met a black or Hispanic person for instance your only impression might be what you see in the movies and on television. Depending on what you have seen that could give you a lot of negative pre-conceived notions. Likewise in the US there are many Americans that have very stereotypical views of Asians as a monolithic group with no understanding of the differences between Asian ethnicities and with lots of racial stereotypes.

Thank you for nine great years

So you stopped a hobby that you enjoyed because of peer pressure. Oh, right and the rest of the article too. But I just really like Jaehyo. Hired to help sing the occasional ballad onstage and to look pretty. I do not understand the context.

Dating Ban In South Korean Entertainment

Dear Korean, How ready do you think Korea is for a foreigner in the K-pop scene? My definition of a foreigner in Korean market would be someone who isn’t Korean and does not look visibly Asian. The Korean would point out the vaguely racist quality of this question first.

However, companies certainly not only want to get back what they invested — they want to make fat profit, too. A lot of idols start work when underage. They are given this image of fame, money and glory and I doubt the negative sides of the industry no freedom, being whored out to sponsors etc are described to them, not that kids can really understand anyway.

This is often a case of abuse of minors. Parents allow their kids to go ahead and do it, because they are also in the dark and like the idea of the money it might bring. This is a daaark dark industry. Even darker than the kdrama one. When you are in what is essentially a mafia-like web of money, everything from your financial to your physical well-being might be threatened if you disobey.

Bc I think Mafia-like to describe the industry is a somewhat accurate way. Contract can have unfair terms, and I agree that consider most artists are underage, does not have the right mentality to distinguish or truly understand many things. As we all know, an idol performance is a whole package.
